Duangsompong returns to ONE Friday Fights after three months, where he defeated Batman by majority decision way back at OFF4. His record since the beginning of 2022 is now 4-2-1, but he is on a relatively long layoff as far as Thai fighters go. And though he won the his first fight, he wasn’t satisfied with his performance and hopes to have a more definitive victory this time out. At 180 cm tall, he looks to have a significant height advantage in this contest.
Pompetch makes his debut in ONE, and as such has been training the past month for the new experience of small gloves and three rounds. In the pandemic era, he took two years off from fighting, basically all of 2021 and 2022. But in his 2023 return, he is 2-0, with decision wins in January and March. His wife is pregnant with the couple’s second child, and he hopes to win the bonus to keep for family expenses.
ONE Muay Thai: Regular fights 3 rounds of 3 minutes, title fights 5 rounds of 3 minutes. Scored on the 10-Point Must System, but judges must declare a winner if the points are even at the end of the fight. 3 knockdowns in a round is a TKO. Elbows allowed, no throws, no grappling. Fighters fight in the 4 oz. MMA gloves instead of boxing gloves. ONE referees tend to break up the clinch almost immediately instead of letting the fighters work out of it.
ONE MMA: Regular fights 3 rounds of 5 minutes, title fights 5 rounds of 5 minutes. Bout scored in its entirety, not round-by-round. Knees to the head of a grounded opponent are legal, soccer kicks are not.
